About this place
One of the main draws at Asatte is sitting down without having to agonize over the menu. The kitchen keeps things straightforward with a single daily set meal, letting diners put themselves in the hands of the day's cooking—homemade fare built around meat or fish and rounded out with homestyle small sides and miso soup.
The steamed rice anchoring the main dish is cooked with defined grains and an underlying sweetness, and both the rice and miso soup come with free refills. For an extra bite, diners can customize their bowls with side additions such as soy-sauce-marinated egg yolk, spicy cod roe (mentaiko), fermented natto, or pickled Shirakaga umeboshi.
Beyond the bustling lunchtime rush, the restaurant is a dependable evening stop for a wholesome hot dinner. On the way home from work, it works just as well for an easy drink alongside draft beer and an appetizer plate. With a relaxed mix of counter and table seating, it offers an approachable neighborhood spot for a casual solo meal.
